Beautiful Blue Birthday Wishes

Welcome to the birth of a new year...2015 to be precise! In honor of that, we've decided that the Dreamweaver Stencils monthly challenge for January will be Birthday Wishes. We'd love for you to play along with us, and link your creations to the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of this post, or on the Dream It Up! blog, for a chance to win the stencil of your choice...and remember, using Dreamweaver products gets you bonus points towards an extra stencil!

Here is how I made my card;
1.  Lay LX7001 Damask on white cardstock and spray with WheatGrass and Blueberry Shake Memories Mists.  Lay another piece of white cardstock on top of this and lightly rub to absorb the spray on the stencil, this is the piece used for the background.
2. Place LG698 Corner Flourishes in upper left corner and paste emboss with Dreamweaver Stencils Embossing Paste and let dry.
3. Place stencil over the dried embossing paste and sponge with green inks. Remove stencil and spray with silver spray.
4.  Paste emboss sentiment from LG704 Birthday Words with Dreamweaver Stencils Metallic Silver Embossing Paste.  When dry cut out using Nesting Ovals Die DD004.
5.  Mount pieces to card as shown.
Of course, more birthday inspirations coming your way from our "A" team:

A Warm Cup Of Tea

This week the Stampendous Design Team is sharing teapots and teacups.  A nice warm cup of tea is just what I need on these cold winter days!  But this teapot holds beautiful roses which would make a great Mother's Day card, thinking of you, get well soon, birthday...so many possibilities.

Here is how my card was made;

1.  Stamp Teapot Posies on Mixed Media White Paper from Stampendous (available later this month) with Tuxedo Black Memento and color the flowers with Spectrum Noir markers.  The roses were colored with PP1, PP2, and PP5.  The leaves were colored with LG2, DG2 and DG3.
2.  Stamp the Teapot Posies again on decorative paper and cut out only the teapot.  Glue this over the teapot on the white paper.  Layer onto black paper.
3.  Color the dots and some of the stripes with a white gel pen.
4.  Chalk around the image with a short flat bristled brush.  I used a Loew-Cornell 7450 Chisel brush.
5.  Use a Zig 2 Way Glue marker to apply glue underneath the teapot and sprinkle with Gold Lux Mix.
6.  Layer cream decorative paper onto white.  The green and white paper was made by placing a Dreamweaver Stencil LX7001 on white cardstock, spraying with Wheat Grass Memories Mists.  Do not remove, place white cardstock on top of the stencil, rub so it will soak up the spray and remove.  This will give you the stencil image with the negative spaces white. Let dry and layer onto white paper. Then you will have the other paper to use later.  Glue pieces onto a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card
7.  Stamp words from the Angel Wings Quotes Perfectly Clear Set on a small Avery Marking Tag with black ink, sponge edges with Pearlescent Coral Brilliance, tie with green ribbon and pop up over handle with 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

Hummingbird Week

Welcome to Tips and Tricks Tuesday #2!
Bag-a-lope
This week the Stampendous Design Team is using the new Hummingbirds stamp set and the matching Hummingbirds Die Cut Set.  I'm sharing a gift bag made from a manila envelope other wise known as a bagalope.  The bagalope has been around for many years but I haven't seen it much recently, so if you are a relatively new stamper you may not know about this.  Here is how it was made;

1.  Cut the top off of a pale yellow manila style envelope.  Score the sides and bottom at 1".
2.  Stamp Elegant Scroll on the top left and bottom right corners with Versamark ink and emboss with PEARLustre Pearl White embossing powder and heat.
3.  Sponge the entire bag lightly with Tea Dye ink.  Then sponge over the embossed areas with the same ink in a circular manner then also with Vintage Photo ink.  Use a paper towel or rag to wipe off the in on the embossed area.

4.  Randomly stamp the Elegant Scroll with Antique Linen several times.
5.  Stamp flower vine on the right side with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and color with pencils, I used Prisma pencils.
6.  Stamp the flower vine again on cream paper, place the matching die over the flower and tape down with REMOVABLE tape.  Run it through your die cutting machine.
7.  Tap the top of flower with Versamark ink and emboss with Kaleidoscope embossing powder (a clear sparkly powder) and heat. Pop up on the vine using 3D Foam Squares by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

8.  Stamp hummingbird on patterned glitter paper with black Versafine ink, sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat.  The image will look light when stamped but will darken up after embossed.  I tried using Memento ink for this but it didn't darken up enough after being heated.

9.  Place the matching die over the hummingbird, secure it with removable tape and run it through your die cutting machine.  Pop up with quite a few foam squares, it tends to curl after embossed but the foam squares keeps it flat.
10.  Stamp Friends from the Happy Greetings Perfectly Clear Set with Pearlescent Lavender Brilliance and the rest of the saying with Oregano Adirondack ink.  These are two separate pieces.

Now for the bag-a-lope
1.  So you have already cut the top off being sure you have cut the clasp off and scored the three sides at 1".
2.  Fold the score lines back and forth.
3.  Open the bag sides and push the middle score line in towards the bag .
4.  Flatten the bottom, pinching the corners so you can fold them underneath the bag and glue them with 3 in 1 glue from Beacon Adhesives.

You can make a bag out of any size envelope but sides need to be proportional.  With that being said I don't have any exact measurements.  I am purely a trial and error kinda gal, measuring is NOT my friend!

The tissue paper was stamped with the Elegant Scroll and Pearlescent Lavender Brilliance.

This week I'm playing along with a couple of challenges, Crazy 4 Challenges which is when you see and empty craftroom what is the first thing you think of putting in it...stamps!!!  And Crafty Cardmakers which is something old and something new. Lastly My Craft Creations-anything goes.

Birthday Butterfly

Welcome to the very first Tips and Tricks Tuesday!  The Tip and Trick will be at the end of the post but be sure to read the instructions, there may be added tips and tricks.

This week the Stampendous Design Team will be sharing Butterflies from the Jumbo Butterfly Trio, the new PenPattern Butterflies and or the Butterflies Die Cut Set that works with BOTH Butterfly sets!!! All stamps and embossing powders are from Stampendous!

I recently saw on pinterest a layered butterfly that I loved but it wasn't attached to anything, so I created a layered butterfly birthday card. Here is how I made it.

1.  Stamp Butterfly from the Jumbo Butterfly Trio onto decorative paper, I used paper from The Paper Studio- Antiquity, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
2.  Place the matching die over the stamped image and tape down using removable tape.  Run it through your die cut machine.
3.  Without stamping the butterfly, die cut from music sheet paper from the same pack as above and blue decorative paper from DCWV-The Old World Stack.
4.  Sponge the music sheet butterfly with Tea Dye ink and the blue with Radiant Neon Electric Blue ink from Tsukineko.
5.  Layer the stamped butterfly and the music sheet one on top of each other and bend the wings.  Glue butterflies together (only the bodies) with Fabri-Tac glue from Beacon Adhesives.

5.  Since my self adhesive pearls weren't sticking, I placed 3 drops of Dazzle Tac Jewelry Glue from Beacon Adhesives in a row on the butterfly body and placed the pearls on top.
6.  Now set the Butterfly aside and stamp the bottom of a muted burgundy paper with Grunge Birthday using Versamark ink.  Emboss with Ivory powder.  For a grunge or shabby chic look the Ivory is much better than white.  Then randomly stamp Grunge Birthday with London Fog Memento ink randomly and stamping off of the paper.
7.  Lightly sprinkle Ivory embossing powder on the stamped panel and heat from underneath so the embossing powder doesn't blow off.
8.  Glue paper to a tan panel sponged with Tea Dye ink.
9.  Wrap corners with jute, glue to a light blue card sponged with Electric Blue ink and glue on butterfly.
10.  Add Dot Sparklers (dot stickers) from Stampendous randomly to the card.

I made 8 of them for my stamp club ladies, hope they like them!

Tip and Trick #1
Keep your embellishments from falling off!

My grunge Butterfly Birthday card uses self adhesive pearls (from the dollar isle at Michael's).  I was having a problem getting my self adhesive pearls to stick to the butterfly, they kept falling off.  I needed to use an adhesive to keep them stuck down but I wanted one that dried quickly, preferably one that the nozzle didn't clog, was strong, dried clear and would give me a small dot, not a blob.  Yeah I don't ask for much!

I have many, many different glues that work fine but the one that met all of my requirements is Dazzle Tac Jewelry Glue from Beacon Adhesives.  It comes in a thin tube with a thin nozzle.  I've never had the nozzle clog, I get a small dot and once dried my embellishments aren't going anywhere!

Give Away Wednesday
Starting this month, the last Wednesday of each month, I will have a "Give Away Wednesday."   The first week of each month I will have a post showing the give away stamp and the winner will be picked from the list of commenters on that post. Winners must have a USA address.

Birth Of A New Year!

I would like to wish a very special Happy Birthday to Lynell Harlow the amazing owner of Dreamweaver Stencils.  Enjoy your special day on January 4th!!

Here is how my card was made;
1.  Rub Hawaiian Coconut Oil Soap on the back of LL487 Vertical Balloon, LL466 Christmas Package (works great for Birthdays!!) and LG704 Birthday Words. Remove one side of the carrier from Double Sided Mounting Paper and place stencils, soap side down on the sticky part.
2.  Using a straw cut diagonally, use it as a spoon to place Micro Glitters from Stampendous in Pink, Orange and Lime.  Rub glitters onto paper, turn upside down over a trash can and shake off excess glitter.

3.  Place stencils, stencil side down on the table and remove Mounting Paper.  Sprinkle paper with Crystal Micro Glitter and shake off excess.
4.  Place LX7027 onto a white square card and sponge with Pearlescent Orange Brilliance.
5.  Mount pieces onto card as shown layering onto burlap.

Of course, more birthday inspirations coming your way from our "A" team:

Now link your Birthday Creation below.
