Birthday Bear

Today I made a quick fun card using Stampendous stamps to play along with two challenges, Color Throwdown #386 and CAS(E) this Sketch #165.  In case you don't know what CAS and CAS(E) are, here is the definition from the CAS(E) this Sketch blog;
The acronym CAS stands for Clean and Simple.

1. Usually only one layer but can include a simple layer or two.

2. A lot of open space sometimes called "white space" can include subtle color, texture or pattern.

4. Usually no embellishments but can include something minimal. (1 or 2 embellishments)

3. Only one focal point. Embellishments should only support not dominate your card.
(Exception to this rule is that you've made the focal point an embellishment and not an image.)

5. Minimal color palette. (up to 3 colors in general)

6. Simple, uncluttered, quick and easy to create.

The acronym CASE stands for Copy and Share Everything.

Here is what I used to make my card;
From Stampendous
Spring Short Stack Perfectly Clear Set
Brush Strokes- available at Simonsays Stamp
Celebrate Birthday
Onyx Black VersaFine-Imagine Crafts
Plus
My Colors Cardstock-Waterside Fern, Poolside

Embossed Accents

Fran Seiford, owner and founder of Stampendous has a new book out, "Embossing Powder TECHNIQUES from A to Z, and is 104 pages of everything you need to know about embossing and more!  Today I used technique Y- Deep Impression Basics With Griddle on page 82 to make the wire wrapped embellishment.

You can get this book at your local stamp store or order it directly from Stampendous.

If you need a heat gun to try these embossing techniques, Stampendous now carries a Wagner Embossing Heat Tool that is made by Milwaukee.  It's long lasting and durable with more power and precision than the kind you can buy in big box stores.   I have to say Milwaukee knows how to make a heat gun, I've had mine for over 10 years and it's still going strong!!

Deflecto Is Perfecto

Deflecto Stampendous Blog Hop Logo

Stampendous has been hopping with Deflecto Craft all week and we have been having a great time altering the products they sent to us!

Today I'm sharing how I deorated the lids of the Carousel Rotating Organizer, which I love and it really is easy!  I traced the lids onto Mixed Media White Paper  and cut to fit down in the lids.  Then I sponged two each of the papers with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean and Picked Raspberry inks.  Then randomly stamped each panel with the same ink it's sponged with, using the Summer Leaves Perfectly Clear Set.  Then the words were stamped with Calligraphy Alphabet Perfectly Clear Set with Onyx Black VersaFine ink.  Once done the panels were glued onto the lids with 3 in 1 Glue.

Designing With Deflecto

Deflecto Stampendous Blog Hop Logo

Wow, Stampendous is having another Blog Hop this week and we are hopping with Deflecto. You know Stampendous loves to give things away, here is what THREE lucky people will win;

CRS5087 Cling Woodland Friends Rubber Stamp Set
DCS5097 Woodland Friends Die Set
SSH57 Jumbo Perfectly Clear Acrylic Stamp Handle

Like my FaceBook page Stamp This to find out if YOU are one of the lucky winners and to see more crafty projects.

These frames aren't just for photos, they can also be used to help accent a room.
My project is perfect for a babies room and when this is out grown all you have to do is pull out the old and replace it with something new. The frame can be used over and over again.

Here is how my project was made-
1.  Cut watercolor paper to 5x7 and sponge the bottom with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn inks.
2.  Using the Picasso Tool, sponge clouds with Salty Ocean ink.
3.  Cut tree out of brown paper using the Leafless Tree Die and tape to paper.
4.  Randomly glue pink flowers to the tree. I got these prepunched flowers in the wedding isle at Michaels, you get a lifetime supply!
5.  Stamp elephant from the Jungle Friends Stamp Set onto watercolor paper, color with watercolor pencils and cut out using matching dies, Jungle Friends Die Cut Set.  Glue elephant beside the tree.
6.  Stamp sentiment from the Animal Mobile Perfectly Clear Set on the top right with black ink and color in "Baby" with regular Prisma pencils. I usually blend my colors with a blender pencil but since this is watercolor paper and it has texture, the blender pencil was giving full coverage of color.  I pulled out my VersaMark Pen and used the fine tip to blend the pencils and it worked perfectly!!
7.  Place panel in Craft Frame and stamp the corners with hearts from the Love Always Perfectly Clear Set using Pearlescent Orchid Brilliance.  Not only does it show up on the black, it also dries on the acrylic.  The hearts were stamped in the upper corner and in the lower right, but these are hard to see because of the lighting but they are pretty and shimmery!

1.  To make this card a Mixed Media White Paper panel was covered with Gesso, then painted with a mixture of Matte Medium, Primary Cyan, Titanium White and Interference.  While still wet, a couple of drops of Primary Yellow were added to the extra paint left over, blended and randomly painted onto the panel.  This combination made a real pretty green.
2.  After it was dry the background was stamped with Jet Black StazOn using the peeled paint stamp from the Toxic Set.  Queen Annes Lace was stamped across the bottom.
3.  Once the ink was dry, Gesso was painted in the center and Queen Annes Lace was stamped with Jet Black, watercolored and glued onto a white card with 3 in 1 Glue.
4.  The sentiment from the Spring Sentiments Perfectly Clear Set on white paper with black and diecut using the Fitted Frames A Set and layered onto a larger black frame.
