Simplicity is Bliss

Here is a card I made a while ago, but I love it's simplicity. I stamped the olive green paper with a flower stamp from Great Impressions with lettuce Adirondack ink and glued it onto a smokey blue card. Then I stamped the rectangle with denim Adirondack ink and stamped the word with lettuce onto a tan strip and sponged the edges, these stamps are from My Sentiments Exactly. Finally, I stamped the flower onto vellum using VersaMark ink, embossed it with white and tore it out. It is attached to the card using vellum dots. For the final touch, circle stickers from Stampendous, were added to the corners of the tan strip.
Now I must go play with my new Scor-Pal that I just got this week. So far I have started a punch of projects but haven't finished, it is now time to do that. Thanks for stopping by :)

Twinkling H2O's

I hope all of my blogging friends had a nice Easter! It was so early this year that it just snuck up on me, but we had a nice time with family over at our house to celebrate. Now for the card :)
Twinkling H2O's are a lot of fun to use and give beautiful shimmering results. I stamped the frame with VersaMark ink on watercolor paper and embossed it with white. Using pink and orange H2O's, I painted the colors diagonally having them blend in the middle. It was then cut out and layered onto black paper. White paper was run through the CuddleBug using the swirl folder, when done pastel pink ink was lightly sponged on. This was layered onto black paper and glued to a pink card that was stamped with flowers using pastel pink ink. The bottom of the card was cut with cloud scissors and holes were punched with a micro punch. A black strip of paper was glued to the inside bottom of the card.

Hang In There!

Here's a really fun card we made at my stamp class last night. It is easy to make except the masking was a bit of a change for a few, I think it was because the monkeys are small so they were hard to cut out to make the mask. The stamp set is by Hero Arts and it is a clear set.

1. Stamp the top monkey with VersaFine ink, mask and stamp the bottom monkey so the tail is in the hand of the top monkey and stamp the branches so it looks like he is holding on to them.

2. You must heat set VersaFine ink before you color it to prevent it from smearing. I used watercolor pencils to color in the image and I added glitter using a 2 way glue pen and sprinkling on ultrafine glitter.

3. Sponge the edges and layer it onto green paper and fold over the top and tear just a bit of the green off.

4. I used a leaf cube by Stampendous to stamp the background on the card. They just so happen to have a leaf pattern that matches the branch from the monkey set perfectly! So I inked the leaf cube with butterscotch ink, then randomly stippled it with mushroom ink, stamped it and repeated until done. This gives a wonderful effect that is muted.

5. Layer decorative paper onto brown paper and glue to card as shown. Tie the bottom of stamped image and DP with peach ribbon and glue down.

6. Stamp words as shown and apply 3 circle stickers to the green DP.

Crayon Resist

This morning it is pretty windy outside so I decided rather than go for a power walk and risk aggravating my allergies, I would go into my drawer of scraps where I have a bunch of stamped pieces that have never gotten used. Well today is the day to use some! This card was made using a really great resist technique that is a crayon resist technique. All stamps and stickers are by Stampendous.
1. Stamp leaves on glossy paper with black StazOn.
2. Color areas that you want to keep white with a white or clear crayon.
3. Stipple lettuce and currant inks on the glossy panel, blending the colors in the center where they meet.
4. Wipe off panel with a paper towel, rubbing where the crayon is to reveal the white paper.
5. Tear the top left corner, layer onto a black panel and wrap with gold cord.
6. Layer onto a gold panel and apply circle stickers to the top left corner.
7. Place a key sticker to acetate and cut out. Punch a hole in the top with a micro punch.
8. Stamp sentiment on a small tag with black ink and sponge edges with currant ink.
9. Attach the key and tag to the gold cord, tying it with bronze cord.
10. Place key hole sticker to the right side of a burgundy card and stamp the card with a marble stamp and VersaMark ink. (It's hard to see this in the picture).
11. Glue down stamped image and you are done.

Girlfriend Card

I made this friendship card a while ago and love the colors, so I thought I would dig it up and post it. I stamped the sentiment with black StazOn and watercolored it with watercolor pencils (my coloring tool of choice). It is then layered onto golden rod and blue panels. The girl images are stamped in butterscotch ink, layered onto blue paper and the center image is popped up. Gold circle stickers are added in the corners.

Glitter and Lace

If you want to make a card with a lot of sparkle, this is the card for you! A great glitter and lace technique was used to make this card and the best part, it's easy.
1. First I used my Sizzix tag die to cut sticker paper and acetate into a tag shape.
2. Remove the paper from the back of the sticker paper and place the tag down, sticky side up.
Place a piece of lace on top of the sticky side of the sticker paper and rub to make sure the lace is stuck down.
3. Sprinkle a small pile of ultra fine multi glitter in the center of the tag and using the back plastic spoon, rub the glitter all over the tag being sure to press the glitter into the lace. When done, turn the tag upside down, shake off the excess glitter and remove the lace.
4. Sprinkle a small pile of blue glitter in the middle of the tag and again rub the glitter around with the back of a plastic spoon. Shake off excess and set aside.
5. Stamp the cake and sentiment onto the acetate tag with StazOn ink, let dry (about 30 seconds) and color the cake with Sharpie markers from the back.
6. Place small circle stickers on the cake, on the front side of the acetate. Lay on top of the glitter tag and tie with ribbon.
7. Glue diagonally to a your card and apply stickers as shown.
This card is beautiful IRL, unfortunately the scanner just doesn't show the shimmer and shine of glitter.

Birthday Balloons

This is a real quick and easy card to make, with a little help from decorative paper! I used my new Hero Arts set and stamped the balloon in lime, coral and lavender Brilliance, then stamped Happy Birthday in black VersaFine. Then layer onto black paper and tie with a ribbon. Glue this onto a pink card that has rectangles of decorative paper layered onto black cardstock. Then I stamped the birthday circle on cardstock, then punched it out with a 1" punch and layered it onto a black circle that I cut out with a circle Sizzix die. This is then popped up using a foam square.

These Cris Cross cards are sooooo easy to make, you can view the tutorial over at SCS. I'm still making cards to use up my decorative paper and this is a great way to use it. The cupcake is another one from the new Hero Arts set along with the sentiment. The cupcake is painted with Twinkling H2O's and the decorative paper is from the Slab by Provo Craft.

Yum, Yum

I have so much decorative paper I thought I better use some to make room for new! I'm just waiting for the Slab to come out with a new design, I find the Slab the most economical and you get so much paper. For this card I used my new Hero Arts clear set and inked it with black VersaFine which comes right off the stamps without staining as long as you clean them right away. When you use VersaFine be sure to heat set the ink so it doesn't smear. I then watercolored the cupcake using watercolor pencils, added glitter to the frosting with two way glue and then applied Crystal Lacquer to the flower to add shine.

Wow is it windy! One of our decorative shutters blew off the house last night and boy was I surprised to fine out that it's made out of plastic, who knew! So now it needs to be replaced rather than repaired and I have now idea where to get one that will match, this will really cut into my stamping time :( So I better go and get started.
