4th of July

Since the hubby is on vacation this week, I haven't had time to stamp so here are a couple of 4th of July cards I made awhile ago. I don't send out 4th of July cards but this chick by Stampendous is just so darn cute! The chick is colored with watercolor pencils, layered on a red panel and popped up. A red star sticker was placed in the center of the sparkler. The red and white is ribbon that was glued down and stamped on with blue StazOn ink.

This chick is stamped on a dome tag and layered onto red paper that I cut to fit, the ribbon at the top helps hide any imperfections!
I'll be back to stamping next week since this weeks schedule is full! Tomorrow we are going to see Wicked at the Pantages Theater in L.A. We are all looking forward to it, the hard part is figuring out how long it will take us to get there since some of the driving time will be during rush hour traffic!
Then on Friday the kids are spending the night at Grandma's house while we celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary, boy does the time fly by! Every year we go to Five Crowns restaurant in Corona Del Mar where we were engaged. The food is wonderful! The restaurant is an old English style with a dark interior, fireplace and high backed chairs. They also have a nice glass covered garden section that has a completely different feel. That reminds me, I better make sure my DH made reservations.
Thanks for stopping by!

Let's Play

Here is a card I made for a stamp class I had a few weeks a go. The class was ways to use vellum and I really like how this card turned out! Here is how to make it.
1. Stamp the dog on watercolor paper with VersaMark and emboss with alexandrite powder (Stampendous). Color using Twinkling H2O's, layer onto dark blue paper.
2. Stamp the "woof" tag onto dark blue paper, cut out and tie to dog panel with green jute. Set aside.
3. Stamp olive strip the bouncing ball with VersaMark ink and emboss with white powder. Glue to a light blue card that has been randomly stamped with a dog bone.
4. To cut the half circles, use a circle coluzzle and cut a half circle out of dark blue paper using the largest circle. Do the same with the vellum but use one size smaller circle.
5. Stamp the vellum half circle with white Brilliance using the foot print stamp from the set. Then layer it onto the blue circle and attach with green brads. Glue to the card.
6. Mount the dog image to the card using foam squares.
7. Stamp let's play on watercolor paper with VersaMark ink and emboss with alexandrite powder, cut out and glue to card as shown.

Well I'm off to take my daughter to waterpolo, then later today my son goes to Tae Kwon Do and I will make dinner sometime inbetween. Hope everything above makes sense, I don't have time to proof read! Have a great day.

A Day To Celebrate

This card is for Mercy's Tuesday sketch challenge. This is a long card so it was harder to photograph. I used Hero Arts stamps and stamped the round birthday wishes three times, once in stonewashed, cranberry and lettuce Adirondack inks. Then they were punched out and layered onto orange paper which is the back side of the polka dot paper. The circles are glued to a polka dot rectangle that is layered on goldenrod paper and glued to a card that measures 4 x 8 so it would fit into a legal sized envelope. Mercy requested different measurements but I couldn't remember what they were and didn't want to run upstairs and wait for the computer to turn on, sorry Mercy.
Now that I can take pictures and down load them onto the computer, my next project is to learn how to crop the pictures.... that might take awhile. Well now both of my kids are out of school, my son just until July and my daughter until September. I'm hoping to still find time to stamp :) Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Cupcake

Today I participated in a couple of challenges, Poetic Artistry has this really cute sketch challenge that I just loved and SCS has a color challenge that I wasn't thrilled with but I thought I would stretch myself. The colors are real red, regal rose and so saffron, my stamping friends know I really don't like pink and red together but I was happy with what I ended up with, what do you think? This card is mostly pink and saffron with just a touch of red. The background stamp is by Great Impressions and stamped with real red ColorBox chalk ink, the cupcake and sentiment are by Hero Arts and stamped with black VersaFine and the red circle stickers are by Stampendous. None of the papers I used are by SU, they are just similar in color.

Today I took my son and two of his friends to see Kung Fu Panda, the boys LOVED it! And to make it even better, I loved it too. So if you are looking for a movie to see, we highly recommend this one.

My Man

This is a quick and easy card to make, my favorite kind! It is called a two way fold card and the dimensions can be found here. I used papers by Bo Bunny, they are patterned on both sides. The word stamp is by Great Impressions and the alphabet stickers are by Stampendous.

Here is how it looks after you untie the card.

And this is with the card lifted up. I have left it blank so I can write something sweet to my husband :)
Thanks for visiting!

Vellum and Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!

Okay, we got a new computer last week woo hoo! So several days ago I figured out how to up load my pictures from my camera (something I don't know how to do on our old one). Yesterday I wanted to post on my blog but I couldn't find where the pictures were on the computer, isn't that pathetic! Well last night after I got home from teaching my stamp class, my DH found where they were and showed my how to access them, I don't know what I would do without him. So now I can post pictures of my cards which look so much better than scanning them. Now on to the card...
This is on of the cards we made in my class last night and it is also for the stamp simply challenge over at No Time To Stamp.
1. Stamp flowers (Great Impressions) two times on a confetti panel with lettuce then stamp again in the middle with wild plum (Adirondack)
2. Punch the corners with a ticket punch (SU) and sponge the edges with lettuce. Layer onto bright pink panel.
3. Stamp a vellum panel with leaves (Great Impressions) using white Brilliance. Glue to a turquoise card using vellum tape (Glue Dots) and mount stamped image in the center.
4. Stamp a vellum strip with "heartfelt" (Hero Arts) with black Brilliance, tear the edges and tape over the flowers.
5. Add circle stickers.

Now for family photos! Here is my wonderful husband (our 21 year anniversary is the end of this month) with our daughter Melanie and son Greg when we were at the air show last month.

Here is our Girl Scout Troop when we placed flags on veterans graves on Memorial day.

My daughters birthday was last month and she had a slumber party, here she is with a couple of her friends. Melanie is in the middle.

Finally, this is my Mom and Greg (isn't he cute!), we went to an Easter egg hunt and breakfast where my Mom lives. Can you believe these pictures were in my camera so long!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Masculine Just For You

In honor of Father's Day, I've made some masculine cards and here is one of them. My Dad and my husbands Dad are no longer with us but I still like to make masculine cards so I made them more generic so they could be used for different occasions. The decorative papers are by Provo Craft, the stamp is by Stampendous as well as the stickers. The medallion was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with chocolate embossing powder, punched out and sponged with mushroom Adirondack ink. The ones at the top and bottom are glued flat and the center one is popped up with foam squares.

Happy Birthday

I made this Birthday Card for Beate's weekend sketch challenge WSC50, I didn't run across it till last night and I thought it looked like fun. The cake is a stamp from PrintWorks and it is a wedding cake but I only inked up the bottom of the cake and added candles to the top which are by Hero Arts. The image is stamped with VersaMark and embossed with a black glitter powder, then it is painted with Twinkling H20's. Yesterday I got a new border punch by Fiskar and had to try it. So the black paper was punched using it, and the punch was really easy to line up to make a continuous border! The Happy Birthday stamp is from Hero Arts and is stamped using black VersaFine, I decided to use VersaFine because it is easy to clean off clear stamps :) Above the pink strip I placed a piece of 1/8" tape and sprinkled with glitter.
