Oh what a week we have planned for you! We’re super excited to play with our friends at DecoArt. Mixed Media Artist and DecoArt International Education Coordinator Andy Skinner has designed some fantastic stamps for Stampendous, and we’re going to be showing them off all week long.
Along with the Stampendous Design Team, Andy and his team of international mixed media artists including Julia Stratford-Wright, Mark Gould, Mel Hookham, and Jools Robertson, will be sharing their projects. There will be posts this week on the DecoArt blog as well.

Here is my card for today. I love mixed media but I have a very hard time making it since I am more of a neat, clean and precise crafter. With mixed media you never know what you are going to get, and while creating you experiment and get dirty, that drives me crazy. With that being said I am happy with the way this turned out.
First I brayered Primary Cyan Media Fluid Acrylic onto a full sheet of Mixed Media White Paper followed by Primary Yellow, then Titanium White to tone it down a bit.
Once the paint was dry, stamps from the Toxic Set were randomly stamped with Gama Green, Lightning Black and Pearlescent Orange Brilliance Ink.
Now the paper was cut into four 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 pieces, three to use later.
Next the butterfly stencil from the Butterfly Duet Set was placed on the panel and held in place with removable tape. Paint with DecoArt Media Gesso, let dry and outline with the pen that comes with the Butterfly Duet Set.
Layer stencils, secure with removable tape, then stipple with Rocket Red Brilliance. Remove stencils and shadow with black chalk using a flat brush.
To finish it off Aged Black Embossing Enamel was sprinkled on, heated from underneath and glued onto a goldenrod card with 3 in 1 Glue. A key charm was glued to the center of the butterfly with 3 in 1 Glue. Then lastly a sentiment was stamped at the bottom from the Say It Today Perfectly Clear Set.
Now go take a look at what the other designers have for you today.

ReplyDeleteIt was like I was reading the same comment I have said many times before on my blog. I love mixed media too and I have spent the last year trying to figure out if I could bring mixed media into my card creations. I have learnt how to but I now prefer to create CAS cards but really mucky tags and off the page creations. I am what my husband kindly called an eclectic crafter and after reading your post I would guess you are too.
