Tile Coaster Class

I had a "Tile Coaster" class last night and promised the ladies the directions on my blog, so here they are.

1. Stamp an unpolished tile with a harlequin stamp with lavender Brilliance.
2. Stamp daisy with violet Brilliance and the stamp with gamma green Brilliance.
3. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes and let cool completely.
4. Color with sharpie markers. These markers can easly be blended with different shades. The petals were colored with light pink, then I drew one line of bright pink along one side of the petal. Then I blended the two colors together using the light pink marker. (To clean the marker tip, just dab on a paper towel). The leaves were colored in the center with yellow, then I went over it with mint green.
5. These tiles don't need to be sealed after you color them as long as you follow the above directions. These tiles will also absorb moister as long as they are not sealed.

1. Stipple ivy, copper and crimson Brilliance onto a light colored tile.
2. Over stamp agapanthas with brown StazOn.
3. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes and let cool completely.
4. Color the open lined flowers with pink and yellow chalk.
5. Spray a very light coat of matte sealer and let dry. If you spray to much sealer the first time, the StazOn ink will run. Let dry.
6. Spray with two more coats of matte sealer, letting dry inbetween coats.

  3. What gorgeous tiles! I didn't know there were so many ways to make these. I love them all, but I think my favourite has to be the leaf/script one at the bottom. That leaf stamp is so beautiful and the script with weathered tile make the perfect backdrop. Wish I could have been at that class!

  4. Oh these tiles are just beautiful! I've never done tiles because I thought they would be either non absorbent or the color would not hold. You've answered both of these issues in your tutorial - thanks!

  5. Yes yes yes! gorgeous. I made some of these after following instructions in one of Stampington's publications, a long time ago ... your images came out more crisp than mine and I prefer that, but they are sure fun to make! I see them in certain stores around here for $40/set ... hmmmmm (ETSY, anyone?) (smile)
