Father's Day Die-Cut Card

Do you need a Father's Day card and think that you don't have the right stamps or dies? Well, that may not  be the case. I used dies to make this card that will work great for Dad.

Here's how it's made-

Die-cut decorative paper using the Nested Rectangle Stitch Die Set and die-cut white glitter paper using the Nested Scallop w/Hole Die Set.

Glue the two panels together and mount to a black card.

Die-cut black glitter paper using the Sea Grass Die Cut.

Floral Foil Shaker Card

To make the background, four sizes of Premium Double-Sided Tape in, 1", 1/2", 1/4", 1/8", were placed diagonally across a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white piece of cardstock. Using Metallic Transfer Foil Sheets from the Nature and Pastel Sets were used to create a marbled look by crumpling up a piece of pink foil and rolling it in your hands, opening it up and placing it on one of the lines of Premium Double-Sided Tape (with the pretty side facing you).  Give it a rub and remove the foil carrier. You will then place a sheet of black foil from the Foil Transfer Sheets over the tape that has the pink foil and rub.  This will create a vein look. You will continue this with other colors until all of the tape is covered.

The panel was then die-cut using a scallop die.

Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L makes shaker card making so easy by using the 3D Foam Circle Frames White. You don't have to worry about any of your shaker bits falling out. All you do is pick the size of circle that you need and place it on your panel.

Then die-cut a circle that fits inside of the foam circle, stamp it with a sentiment with black ink and emboss it with clear embossing powder. Add a couple of self-adhesive pearls. Glue the circle to the inside of the foam circle, I used a liquid glue for this so I could move the circle around while the glue is wet to get it centered.

Next, the shaker bits were placed in the center of the foam circle.

Flowers were diecut twice from white cardstock and once from black cardstock. On one of the white cardstock pieces, pink was sponged on the flowers and the flowers were cut off. On the other white piece the stems were sponed with green ink. The pink flowers were then glued onto the green stems using the Dual Tip Glue Pen.  The flowers were then layered onto the black die-cut pieces so just of a bit of the black can be seen to make a shadow.

A scallop circle was die-cut from white cardstock and the center was die-cut using a circle die. Acetate was placed behind the scallop piece using the Dual Tip Glue Pen.  The flowers were glued to the left side of the shaker also using the Dual Tip Glue Pen. The shaker panel was then mounted to a green card using the E-Z Runner Grand.

Pretty Card with Funny Sentiment

It's always fun making a pretty card with an unexpected sentiment. My card today does just that with stencils, stamps, dies and inks from Rubbernecker Stamps.

Here's how my card was made-

To make the background, I placed a sheet of white cardstock on my STAY-tion, then put the the leaf stencil from the Baroque Floral Stencil (two part stencil) down and used the magnets to hold it in place.
Next, I used a brush to apply Melon, Grass and Fern Color Fuse Ink.

The leaves stencil was removed and the flower stencil was aligned. Blush, Rose, Mango and Custard Color Fuse Ink were then blended over the stencil.

This was then die-cut twice using two sizes of the Nested Square w/ Pierce Die.

The large square was glued to a pink square card and ribbon was wrapped around and glued in the center.

The smaller die-cut square was layered onto a slightly larger pink panel and popped up in the center of the card. Ribbon was tied in a knot and glued to the right side.

The sentiment was stamped on vellum using black StazOn Ink and taped to the center of the card using E-Z Runner Permanent Fine Adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. This doesn't show under the vellum.
The flowers were die cut and sponged with orange and pink Color Fuse Inks.  The leaves were die-cut from green cardstock.

Mother's Day Floral Card

Here's the card that I made for my Mom for Mother's Day, I'm so lucky to still have her, she'll be 90 on Saturday.

Here's how my card was made-

1.  Stamp the flower from the Happy Mother's Day stamp set using Color Fuse Inks #6 for the petals and Color Fuse Ink #10 for the stem and leaves on white cardstock.
2.  Die-cut the flower using a die from the Nested Oval Stitch Die Set and layer it onto a green oval that's one size larger.
3.  Shadow around the flower using blue decorative chalk and a flat brush.
4.  Die-cut white cardstock using the Lattice Cover Die and layer it onto a purple card.
5.  Pop up the flower in the center of the card using 3D Foam Circles.
6.  Stamp the sentiment from the set on white cardstock with black ink and die-cut it using the Nested Square Stitch Die Cut Set and layer it on green cardstock. Glue this to the card as shown.
7.  Glue a small butterfly to the top left corner that was cut using the Small Butterflies Die.
8.  Make a bow from sliver cord and glue it to the stem of the flower.

If you're looking for a die-cutting machine, I really love the Crossover ll (shown below) because you don't have to change out the plates depending on what you are die-cutting, you simply spin the pressure wheel on the top to adjust the pressure. I've had mine for about 4 years and the plate hasn't warped!

Special Day Shaker Card

Today's card is a shaker card made using pretty papers from Kaisercraft.
To start, I splattered white ink on a dusty pink panel and mounted it to an off-white card using E-Z Dots.

Two coordinating papers from the pad were die-cut using a Nested Deckle Rectangle Die from Rubbernecker Stamps, both sheets are the same size. They were layered slightly askew also using the E-Z Runner Dots from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

Floral paper was die-cut using the Holiday Tags Die from Rubbernecker Stamps, then a smaller tag die from the set was centered on the tag. I didn't want the top part of the tag die-cut, so I placed the embossing plate at the bottom scallop of the die and ran it through my Crossover ll embossing machine. By doing this, only the bottom portion of the tag will be cut.

This is what it will look like. Now all that needs to be done is to place a ruler across the tag and use a craft knife to cut it off. Don't forget to cut on a self healing mat.

Since the decorative paper isn't thick, I die-cut the tag with the cutout from white cardstock so it won't be flimsy when it's popped up. The two pieces are attached using the E-Z Dots Runner.
Acetate was die-cut using the larger die and this was attached to the back of the tag using the E-Z Dots Runner.

If you like making shaker cards you will LOVE these 3D Foam Strips, they are nice and thin so you don't have to cut them down. The back of the tag was lined with these, being sure their aren't any openings for the shaker bits to fall out. This is also the point where you want to add ribbon at the top of the tag.

The die-cut paper panels are adhered to the card using the E-Z Dots Runner, then shaker bits were placed on the center of the panel and the tag was placed on top.  Butterflies were cut from one of the papers, the wings were bent up and glued to the card using the Dual Tip Glue Pen. For the final touch, pale pink enamel dots were placed on the card as shown.
